To understand the causes of acid reflux, you should first understand the disease. This is the reflux of gas and sometimes fluids up the oesophagus. This is as a result of a faulty esophageal sphincter which connects the stomach and the oesophagus.
When we eat, hydrochloric acid is produced by the stomach to digest the food. This acid may reflux in to the oesophagus causing the disease. We should therefore try to make sure that the stomach ph is balanced.
Acid Reflux Causes include overeating, smoking, taking alcohol, fatty foods, spicy and over seasoned foods and sugary foods. This make the stomach produce more hydrochloric acid to digest the food. Smoking corrodes the oesophagus and the esophageal sphincter. This increases chances of getting acid reflux.
When we overeat more acid is produced. Chances are some of it may reflux into the oesophagus. Lifting weights after a meal is also an acid reflux cause. Going to bed to soon after a meal can also be an acid reflux cause.
Some women get the reflux when in their last trimester of pregnancy. This is as a result of the stomach being pushed up into the diaphragm by the growing baby. Wrong sitting positions during pregnancy can also be acid reflux cause. Eating should be in small portions more frequently throughout the day.
In babies, the acid reflux causes vary. To some babies. a digestive system that is not fully developed is the cause. Feeding methods can also be acid reflux causes. When feeding the baby you should always allow time for the gas swallowed with the food to be expelled out of the stomach. other acid reflux causes in babies include feeding too much, going to bed too soon after a meal, wrong sleeping positions and giving a baby wrong foods.
